2.5

My choice for the best 2.5 Litre engine? Half a Lamborghini Gallardos engine of course!

Audis 2.5 Litre TFSI 5 Cylinder from the TT-RS plus.

Kinja'd!!!

The 2.5 Turbocharged Inline 5 Cylinder is not only a powerhouse developing 360 HP and 342 lb ft. of Torque, it also looks Incredible when you open the hood. But the absolute best thing about it is its Glorious engine note!

I love the 2.5 TFSI noises. It puts the TT-RS in my "maybe someday" list.

However, it is not half of a lamborghini V10, nor is it based on the VW naturally aspirated 2.5 liter I-5. The TT-RS motor was designed entirely in-house by quattro gmbh.

Id say Subaru EJ257, one of only 4 2.5 liter engines (one of 2 Subaru 2.5's) to make the Ward's ten best engines list.

The Wards top ten engines list is why I'd vote EJ :) Also part of why I'm going to vote VQ35 for best 3.5...or maybe because I own a 350Z..who knows, its a mmyystterryy!!

Kinja'd!!!

I'm going to nominate the Alfa 155 V6 Ti DTM engine.

2.5l, 480bhp at 11,900prm and 38 victories in the DTM :) it's not actually derived from the Arese V6 as you'd think, but is actually a development of the PRV V6. I think the v-angle of that engine allowed them to get the weight lower in the chassis or something.

Still utterly fantastic though :)

The 2.5 V6 in the Alfa Romeo 155. Skip to 1:05 for why.

VW Jetta's 2.5 5 pot. The only 5 pot I've used, and the highest displacement engine I've used. I love the sound and the peppiness to bits. Sure, a TTRS will walk a jetta any day of the week, but while he's listening to turbos sucking, i'll be listening to 5-cylindered goodness

Wow, really wow. Damn, Alfa has been nominated in these series twice (3 episodes of it, so yeah). They do know how to make a charismatic engine them chaps.

I completely agree, nothing quite like a 5-pot's roar at about 3,500RPM

I would really really like to try it with the 5 speed. Also, here in Mexico, for the Jetta redesign with the new independent suspension and 1.8 Turbo, they skipped the turbo since the people like a lot the 5 cil. Thats an independent suspension 5 cil. stick Jetta on sale now!

wow! That's awesome. My mom's 2.5 is a solid axle, 5 speed, and 2.5, so almost the same! Now we have the 1.8T. I'm probably going to look in to one of those or the new golf this summer!

Kinja'd!!!0

Awesome! As a VW Fanboy that makes me fizz like James May. Yeah, my sisters is the worse Jetta you could possibly buy. Auto, Solid Axle, Rear drums, white on white, but it was the first car that got me into speed and manipulated me to catch a corner faster, accelerate harder etc. This is also the car I've been the fastest at 105MPH, and man I got compliments from 5 people! I would be SO exited to get a new one configured my way.

Kinja'd!!!0

Hehe, the Jetta's driving capabilities are intoxicating. Most people see it as a dreary commuter, but it is an honest-to-god fast car. I've done 115MPH in my mom's jetta once. That's not all it has, though I was at the top of 4th, turning over at about 5,700RPM's at that speed. There is no doubt in my mind that the 2.5 Jettas are 130 MPH cars.

Kinja'd!!! Vicente Esteve > PetarVN, GLI Guy, now with stupid power
04/28/2014 at 21:31

Kinja'd!!!0

Hahah everyone must read this and think we are in some sort of south american dealed drug, but its just the truth. Here, people just respect the Jetta and think of it as another level of performance. Also, when I did that 105MPH run, that car didn't felt tired.

Kinja'd!!! PetarVN, GLI Guy, now with stupid power > Vicente Esteve
04/28/2014 at 21:33

Kinja'd!!!0

exactly! My 115 was on a staright, flat bit of road, and there was still more to go, I just chickened out...
Going up a mountain pass, I noticed that it won't get over 80 easily. There seems to be a bit of a brake in acceleration at that speed. I had to keep it in 3rd all the way, basically at redline, to get it up to 85, 90....
Still, really good cars the Jettas

04/28/2014 at 21:58

Haha I also chickened out, but the roads in Mexico are also not the most favourable. I remember when I was in Oliver and tried to go fast, I had to swerve a hole at 85MPH. Damn near shat myself.
